A Moment Lasts Only Once

The photo above shows perhaps some foot-patterns, divots in the ice from the settling of nature, and certain lighting brought on by a specific time of the day. This moment was unique to an exact moment. This is not to say that this is the most important time of the day to take the shot (although I timed it to suit my preferences). What’s important is to note that if I had taken this shot at a different moment in time, even another day at the same time, it wouldn’t be exactly the same.
Every day we face unique opportunities that will not present themselves in the same fashion. We can deliver the same performance, the same speech; the same quality of work and still have varying results. This is because the world is constantly changing. The mood of those around you, the emotional state of mind that may affect you or others, and the timing of literally anything is crucial to getting results that are designed to be unique to the moment.
While this could be a scary thought to think that you must not lose a single chance, this could very well benefit you. While it’s easy to say that we should always be prepared in order to get the best results, this isn’t always feasible. We’re not built like machines, ready to function at full capacity at the whim of a command. Sometimes opportunities present themselves for the purpose of honing our skills and becoming more developed and mature.
Instead of despair over a lost moment, we should appreciate the lesson learned in its necessary time. A fleeting moment may prove to us something crucial to our lives for development. While it may be difficult to accept rejection, loss, and frustration – it’s often in those moments that we learn the most about ourselves. Suppression and denial only lead to further trouble and lack of understanding.
A moment is a moment, nothing more, nothing less. However, it’s a shame to not acknowledge the beauty present. Just because a moment is difficult doesn’t mean that it’s bad, needs to be ignored, or forgotten about. Life becomes better when we learn to advance. Often times, the most difficult lessons are the ones that we learn the most from. Life isn’t meant to be easy; it’s meant to be lived well – and with integrity. Not all that is troubled is lost; it could be simply the necessary way to finding peace.
