There is something we enjoy about the nostalgia. We often long for past days and the feelings we had in the days of past. At times, it seems as if our memories only remember the positive moments of our past when we are faced with negative moments of the present. It’s easy to remember only the good times we had instead of the insecurities of what the future had to bring at the time, because that future has already come. We’ve already seen that adventure play out – the risk is taken out.

It’s easy to long for the excitement of the past days, but what actually created part of that excitement is the element of the unknown. We can’t have an old mind and live a youthful life. We can’t experience adventure without a sense of being thrown into the unknown. We shouldn’t long for the days of the past because they are no longer relevant. Perhaps it’s a longing for adventure that we feel or a sense of carefree happiness.

Adventure can always be found. There is no age limit to having an adventure and starting something new. We often hate going outside of our own comfort zones, but that is often the best place for us to find some really fun new experiences. Life isn’t that scary – there’s nothing that an experience can take away from you. If you happen to become frightened, then let it be. You can always become stronger by figuring out where you are weak.

Seeking carefree happiness is a more troublesome place we may find ourselves. This is different than seeking an adventure. We may look for the carefree happiness of our youth if we feel too burden down by responsibility, work, and the daily requirements that life asks of us. We should never seek to be carefree - it’s a thing of the past. And, while it may have felt great, all that it holds is ignorance of responsibility and a deeper grasp on what life’s responsibilities entail.

We often loathe responsibility, whether we want to admit it or not. We would like to have life be as easy as possible and cater to us. Responsibility would be horrible, if it were all for nothing. However, responsibility teaches us how to respect, obtain, and understand the deepest joys of life. We can’t expect life to be easy, and it’s not meant to be so. We have a greater purpose than eat, sleep, mate, and repeat. Our system and connections are sophisticated and demand responsibility.

The present is where you need to be. Whether you feel you missed out on your past or you’re now waiting for something better to happen. Be present to those who are around you. Live life with integrity and learn how to give everything you have for a cause. Life will then find satisfaction.
