Standing Out Among Talent

If you’re looking to get noticed among the competition, you’ll quickly see there’s always somebody, somewhere who seems to just naturally have something we don’t. It’s easy to get envious at the seemingly effortless gifts others may have. There’s no shortage of talent in the world, but most people aren’t willing to put in the effort to truly excel. Most people just drift through life hoping that their dreams fall into their laps. Or, people simply stop after the first sign of failure.
We can’t be the best at everything, but there’s simply no need for it, or even sufficient time to make that wish feasible. Fortunately, our talents and abilities can exceed even our own expectations if we truly apply ourselves.
How many people actually wake up early, consistently exercise, eat well, spend time with family, and finish work on time, and also pursue their dreams? Were not machines, but most of us don’t live up to a standard of living that produces fruitful results.
While some people “naturally” seem more talented - practice, consistency, and honing skills bring advancement.
To stand out among all the nearby talent, we simply need to be willing to work harder than others. However, life’s purpose is not competition; but in order to get work noticed and be a valuable contributor, we have to be willing to work hard.
Naturally, we don’t work hard at what we don’t care about. I used to sell shoes to people, I did well simply because I had fun exercising techniques for selling. However, selling for the sake of selling was not enough. While the skills I gained were important, they simply reached a limit at a certain point. It wasn’t until I was doing what I loved that I actually felt happy to work hard to excel.
Every job is going to have its pros and cons. Cons aren’t always bad because they still teach us important lessons related to patience and endurance. However, if we are moving towards a goal we completely believe in, then there is less hesitation to put in the required effort. We will actually want to put in the work necessary, and at the end of the day, we will feel exhilarated from following our passion rather than exhausted by a feeling of obligation to work.
Be willing to outwork others to get noticed. It brings up the standard for service and products. It helps others to do their best in order to thrive, as well. The world doesn’t just hand things over the most handsome guy around. Good looks have their limits – passion, talent, and the willingness to work hard have no limits.
