This is the complete halfway point for my goal of creating one blog for every day of the year. At the beginning of November of last year, I decided that I was going to do a daily blog for every day of the year. Not only is it rewarding for me to share (the limited) knowledge I’ve gained while living, but also, it’s helped me exercise more discipline by keeping myself to a commitment. Moreover, writing has been an excellent creative outlet for me.
While I primarily engage in music and photography as creative outlets, writing has been quite important for me. Writing is a beautiful craft, but it’s hard for me to paint as emotional of a picture within words in comparison to composing a song. However, I do love the stylistic idiosyncrasies and differences an artist can uniquely articulate through language and words. An artist can leave their fingerprints across any medium of work.
Being able to engage in what you love is a vital part of life. Art may seem redundant, indulgent, irrelevant, or rude, but true art will always remain as a true expression. Art is often the language of the unspoken mind. People find a way to put that mysterious, almost elusive feeling into a form of some sort, and it’s incredibly rewarding to finally capture it.
The process of creating art is quite unique. Many artists describe it, not quite in terms of creation, but more in terms of having something that already exists come to them. An artist can feel that something is already there, but it’s not exactly in a form, it’s more of a feeling or an idea. But, we know that it exists. It’s the artist’s goal to flesh out what is there and to further unveil, or deepen, the mystery of life.
A song can only be made from 7 different chords. However, emotion finds a way to create the unknown and create thousands of unique songs that cater to the experience of each writer.
Sometimes we don’t know why we create, but we simply feel called to it. Life is a mystery, and you have to trust the feeling to move forward. It doesn’t always make sense but there is something beautiful within struggle, because there is growth. There’s something beautiful in creating, because we can actually see fruition. I often wonder why that is. Nothing lasts forever in this world, but it’s sure beautiful while it does.
