Leap of Faith

There is a fine line between being careless and being adventurous. Primarily, the difference comes down to the consequences. If someone were careless, then they wouldn’t pay attention to major consequences such as debt, injury, or the wellbeing of others. Being adventurous entails calculated risks. A life played too safe can be too boring and cookie-cutter for some of us. Being adventurous takes into account everything that can go wrong while knowing that everything will ultimately be all right.

Worst-case scenarios can keep us in a box of fear, so we need to learn what those fears are. We then need to invite ourselves to step outside of that box, step-by-step. Most businesses don’t thrive because they play it safe. Life demands that we take some risks on a leap of faith. Interestingly, the “gut-feeling” we feel when faced with a hard decision is often the right way to go, even if it seems to go against initial logic.

The “gut-feeling” is actually a proven thing. It’s been researched that this feeling is a sensation caused by our subconscious minds. The conscious mind is alert and trying to figure out something within the conscious moment. While this is happening, the subconscious mind is busy going through your archives of related experiences and calculating what the best move is. The seeming disconnection due to a lack of full cognitive awareness of the two interacting with each other - makes it difficult to differentiate where the gut-feeling is coming from.

When it comes down to it, the worst thing that can happen in a given situation is that we die. Death isn’t even that scary if we truly analyze it. For myself, death isn’t as scary as it once was because my beliefs have brought me security. It’s true that we could go bankrupt or get hurt, but honestly, we should be smart to avoid the kind of risks that would bring those results.

Life is meant to be lived – I would recommend everyone leave their jobs and start doing what they loved. It’s possible to do so. The resources to do so are endless, as well as affordable ways to market a business. Plugging away at a corporation only makes others rich while we are stuck within a strict and personality-less environment. It’s a drag to be a cog in a wheel. Take life by the horns, take a leap of faith, and learn what it’s like to really feel alive by doing what you love. If I’m able to do it, than so can you.
