It’s not always easy to keep to a routine. For various reasons, I’ve recently found myself getting behind and now playing catch up. Sometimes things get sloppy, but there’s usually a good way to get things back to normal again. Prioritizing should come first, followed by doing things in blocks. If I have 5 different things to do, I find it easy to knock each one out at once in blocks rather than spread them out separately.

For example, if I have 4 days of reading to catch up on and 4 days of blogs to do, and 4 days of studying Korean, then I would simply do all four days worth of one activity at once, and then move onto the next activity. It’s hard to keep momentum when we change gears to often. Of course, everyone ticks differently and moderation is good - some people may need variety and a break to prevent burnout.

These days, I’m more focused on what I want to do for myself. This could sound bad, and it’s not that I don’t care about others, or that I’m selfish, but maybe it’s that I’ve been spreading myself too thin. What is success? I want to do what makes me happy, and I want to make others around me happy and motivated, as well.

Thinking about yourself can get bad rap, but whom do you spend your time with? You.

There’s a big difference between spreading yourself thin over others and being considerate. There’s also a big difference between being confident and being arrogant. Where do we find our balance on the spectrum? If it’s in others, then we find ourselves a boat on a rough ocean. If we look only to ourselves, then perhaps we could become a bit narcissistic. It’s hard to choose when everything is relative. That’s why a belief system is necessary. I’m not going to preach to you, but we all need guidance or a base for right and wrong that is separate from mere feelings.

Anyways, I catch up on things that are important to me because I care about the impact that I make in this life. It’s important that I work to improve and develop myself, so that I can enjoy my life more and help my children to do the same and hopefully create a world better than when I came. There’s a lot of negativity, and it’s not just a modern phenomenon. Even one person can make a big different in this world. What’s important to you?
