We all want something, and likely have the capability and resources to obtain it. However, it’s easy to look around find there may be younger, more successful, and brilliant minds than yours. Just because someone gets luckier than you doesn’t mean you have to envy them – sometimes luck happens, but without skill and experience, whatever is gained by luck sure to be lost if one doesn’t understand how to maintain it. This is why we need to make sure our character is in congruence with our beliefs, so that when we put in the hard work, we’re ready to maintain the results when “luck” comes our way.
Being resolute and deciding our beliefs paves our paths and makes the route much more simple for us – less mental exhaustion and going in circles trying to make a decision. Life isn’t always black and white, but being firm in our beliefs and following relying on them will lead us to make more consistent choices. Not only will this make us reliable in the eyes of others, we’ll be more self-respecting to ourselves.
No one appreciates a fair-weather friend. “Friends” who flatter and offer compliments in order to gain some approval or upper hand will quickly lose credibility when they scurry on out when trouble arrives. Life can often be a roller coaster – you can always count on the fluctuation of good times and bad times. A resolute person shines the most when trouble comes.
When we’re resolute, we’re able to maintain what we have with more ease. It’s often the shortcuts and compromises that catch up with us. We get caught in our own trap when we try to cheat others or be stingy. We simply can’t have the best of both being cheap and expecting others to want to give us money, whether in business or personal life. People don’t always make decisions about you based an isolated interactions, they have an understanding of who you are, your behavior, and that is what often effects the outcome of future interaction.
When we’re resolute in our thinking, we don’t have to have fear that we’ll deal with a consequence that may expose us as a bad character – we’ll already be in line with our beliefs. Although, we’re not perfect - and there’s no need to be – we can always be stronger and better than the day before. The moment we stop progressing and developing ourselves is the moment we short ourselves from the best life has to offer.
